Steampunk AU is an Alternate Universe in which the characters of the Big Four are living in a steampunk world.

About the AU[]

The Steampunk AU features characters dressed in clothing based on the science fiction sub-genre. Steampunk itself is an alternate universe of how the real life industrial revolution could've played out. This can include a mix of clothing and accessories that involve worn down machinery and clothes from the 19th century.

Because Steampunk is no stranger to the supernatural, it is possible that supernatural creatures like vampires, dragons and spirits, like the Man in the Moon and the Boogeyman, could exist.

Popular Spinoff AUs[]

Featured Characters[]

The Big Four[]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Hiccup is a genius, often inventing things beyond the time period of even the advanced steampunk age. To parallel his somewhat elevated status as heir to the Chief of Berk, Hiccup is usually in the aristocracy, though not as well-to-do as a royal figure such as Merida or Rapunzel. He tends to spend more time in the workshop than the other people of his standing, which is why he is commonly given goggles to wear as they protect his eyes while working. Hiccup's mechanical leg, amputated in a workshop accident, is a Swiss army knife of useful odds and ends. Toothless often accompanies him in various forms--as a dragon, a human, a vehicle or even an automaton.

Jack Frost[]

Trickster, conman and amateur sorcerer, Jack Frost is the pauper to the prince and princesses that are the Big Four. Being the oldest of the four, Jack knows what it is like to live in the slums and wilderness of the steampunk world. Because supernatural forces can be found in steampunk scenarios, Jack is usually the one who wields the most magic or other assorted powers. Whether or not he is a spirit, a human or whatever else differs from story to story. His staff is sometimes featured as a silver hooked walking stick that he carries around or mechanical-staff device that he carries around, while some of the gears that are part of his steampuke clothing are made to look like silver snowflakes; as silver is the closes metal that could stand for ice. Fans have even given him a pair of goggles to wear with his steampuke attire, so they could protect his eyes while flying in the air that would most likely have smoke rising from many factories and workshops.

Merida DunBroch[]

Being a royal can easily make Merida a aristocrat, from the 19th century. Her bow (sometimes portrayed as a crossbow) is given a mechanical design and is sometimes given the ability to fold up when she isn't using it, as well as making it easier for her to carry it around.

Rapunzel Corona[]

Being a royal can easily make Rapunzel and her family aristocrats, from the 19th century. Some of the gears that are part of her fan-made Steampunk style clothing are sometimes made to look like miniature suns, and are mostly gold rather than silver or bronze. Small gear-like hair accessories are sometimes placed in Rapunzel's long, blond hair; much like the flowers that the Healy Sisters had placed in her hair when they had braided it for her. Pascal often accompanies her in various forms--as a chameleon, a human or even an automaton.

In the first season of Tangled: The Series, Rapunzel encounters with Automatons, which are a type of robot that are used in steampunk scenarios. In season three, her reformed friend Varian had begun to wear Steampuke-like clothing.

Extra Characters[]

Big Hero 6[]

Due to the team being a group of young geniuses, their skills in science and mechanics/robotizes can have them as a group of alchemists and engineers. Honey Lemon as the alchemist, with Hiro, Tadashi, GoGo and even Wasabi as the engineers; as Fred uses his aristocrat wealth to help them with their projects and to provide them with a place where they could work on their projects together. While Baymax being robot is seen as a automaton, that Tadashi had build and Hiro later "tinkered" with.

Their Big Hero 6 armor and gear are sometimes give a steampuke flier and style to them, for when they are placed in the AU along with the team. While their civilian clothing are of the 19th century, with a steampunk touch.

Queen Elsa[]

Being a royal can easily make Elsa a aristocrat, from the 19th century. Because supernatural forces can be found in steampunk scenarios, Elsa is usually the one who wields the most magic or other assorted powers. While some fans have Elsa using alchemic means to create her ice.

Princess Anna[]

Being a royal can easily make Anna a aristocrat, from the 19th century.

The Guardians[]

Since Steampunk is no stranger to the supernatural, it is possible that the Guardians could exist in this AU and possible be portrayed as themselves or even as human versions of themselves; while wearing Victorian steampunk-styled clothing.

Pitch Black[]

Since Steampunk is no stranger to the supernatural, it is possible that Pitch could exit in this AU and possible be portrayed as himself; while wearing Victorian steampuke-styled clothing. His time and life as Kozmotis Pitchiner can even have him as an aristocrat, from the 19th century.

Baron Von Steamer[]

Due to Baron Von Steamer's steampunk theme, a Victorian and 19th century version of him can easily be placed in the AU.

Lenore Shimamoto[]

Living in the late 1890's and early 1900's, and was a scientist as well as an artist, can vaguely place Shimamoto in the AU. As there is a bit of a Steampunk style to her hidden, secret lab within her house and the switch that she uses to take her there, as well as her well meaning, energy pivideing device that had caused the great catastrophe.

The Once-ler[]

Based on the style of his Greed-ler clothes, his dark top hat, greed jacket and small Triffula tree-like boutonniere, he can be placed as a aristocrat, from the 19th century.

Varian[]

In season three of the Tangled: The Series, the episode "The Lost Treasure of Herz Der Sonne" gives Varian a new, more adventurous clothes that have a steampunk-like style to them; and wears it throughout the rest of the season. Automatons are sometimes considered to be Steampunk style robots, and Varian was able to replicate the ancient Automaton he encountered with Rapunzel in the underground tunnels during season one. This is why fans sometimes feature Varian with the Automaton in Steampuke related AUs and crossovers, like BioShock.
