Phantom of the Opera AU is an AU (Alternate Universe) within the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons universe and the Rise of the Brave Tangled Frozen Dragons universe. In the AU, Merida, Hiccup, Rapunzel and Jack Frost are all portrayed as characters from the original romance story The Phantom of the Opera. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart, and other fan-made works. This is considered a sub-scenario of Dark AU.

About this AU[]

Spawning from fanart, this AU places the Big Four, and other such characters in the fandom, as characters from The Phantom of the Opera; and its squeal Love Never Dies.

Due to how the Phantom has sometimes been seen in a few known monster related franchises, like Hotel Transylvania, fans could consider this AU an alternative to Monster AU.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Hiccup is cast between Vicomte Raoul de Chagny and a male version of Christine Daaé, for the Hiccelsa, Dagcup, Hiccanna, Blackcup and Hijack pairings. Some fans, however, see him as the Phantom, due to his art skills and being judge by his looks.

Jack Frost[]

Jack is commonly cast between Vicomte Raoul de Chagny and The Phantom, for the Jackunzel, Janna, Hijack and Jelsa pairings. There have also been fans that have Jack as a male Christine Daaé, for the BlackIce pairing.

Merida DunBroch[]

Merida could be cast as either Christine Daaé or Meg Giry.

Rapunzel Corona[]

Rapunzel is commonly portrayed as Christine Daaé, for the Jackunzel, Eugunzel, Rapssandra and BlackGold pairings. She is also seen as Meg Giry, whenever Gothel cast is Madame Giry. Rapunzel could even be cast as a female version of the Phantom, since art and music are two of the Phantom's many skills and talents, and with both characters being hidden away from the world.

Pitch is commonly portrayed as the Phantom of the Opera, for the Cold & Dark, BlackGold, Blackcup, Warm & Dark and BlackIce pairings. As both characters move around in the shadows and once they got their eye on someone, they'll do whatever they can to make that person theirs.

Queen Elsa[]

Elsa is cast between Christine Daaé for the Jelsa, Cold & Dark and Helsa pairings, and a female version of the Phantom for the Hiccelsa and Elsanna pairings. There have also been fans who have cast Elsa as Meg Giry.

Flynn Rider[]

Flynn is seen as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, when Rapunzel is Christine. There have also been occasions when he is cast as Phantom.

Prince Hans[]

Hans is seen as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, for when Elsa or Anna is cast as Christine. There have also been times when fans portray Hans as the Phantom of the Opera.

Megamind[]

For the Meganne pairing, he is seen as the Phantom.

Roxanne Ritchi[]

For the Meganne pairing, she is seen as Christine Daaé.

Mother Gothel[]

Gothle is seen as Madame Giry, mostly as the person that Giry became in the story's sequel, Love Never Dies. As Madame Giry used her only daughter and the "Phantom" she saved to fill her pockets and had felt threatened when he planed to leave his work to his and Christine's son; much like how Gothel had used Rapunzel to keep herself young and stabbed the man who wanted to take her flower away from her again. Giry had also hid the "opera ghost" from the world within the theatre she worked at, while Gothel hid Rapunzel within a hidden tower. Along with both Gothel and Giry being single mothers, while their daughters are friends with Rapunzel and Christine. There have also been fans who portray Gothel as Carlotta.

When Sadness is Christine, Fear is placed as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny for the NervousTears pairing.

Fans have cast Sadness as Christine Daaé, when Fear is Raoul and Anger as the Phantom.

Anger[]

When Sadness is Christine, Anger is placed as the Phantom for the BrickTear pairing.

Princess Anna[]

Anna can be cast as either Christine Daaé or Meg Giry. As fans commonly have Elsa as Christine, and the two women share a sister-like bond from being raised together.

Jamie Bennett[]

Because Jack is commonly seen as the Phantom, and due to the fact that Jack and Jamie share a strong bond, it can have Jamie be cast as Gustave. Christine and the Phantom's son from Love Never Dies.

Odette[]

Being a former ballerina that works at a opera house, teaches the next generation of Ballerinas and acts as a mother-like figure to her student, strongly casts Odette as Madame Giry. Since both characters are commonly seen with a cane.

Cassandra[]

Because fans commonly cast Rapunzel as Christine Daaé while Gothel is seen as Madame Giry, it can easily portray Cassandra as Meg Giry. Since Love Ever Dies has Meg envying Christine while her mother becomes less motherly towards her, and Cassandra had felt similar emotions with both Rapunzel and her late mother. While a few Cassunzel fans have portrayed her as a female version of the Phantom.

Lucille[]

Because A Monster in Paris shares similarities with the Phantom of the Opera and is set in one of Paris's old timelines, fans can easily portray Lucille as Christine Daaé. Since both woman are singers.

Francoeur[]

Because A Monster in Paris shares similarities with the Phantom of the Opera and is set in one of Paris's old timelines, fans can easily portray Francoeur as the Phantom. Since both characters wear white masks, were viewed as villains in the public's eye and become close with a female singer who sees them as people.

Raoul[]

Because A Monster in Paris shares similarities with the Phantom of the Opera and is set in one of Paris's old timelines, fans can easily portray Raoul as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny. Since both characters are called Raoul and have fell in love with a beautiful singer who they have known as children.

Felicie[]

Felicie could be featured as one of the Opera House's young dancers, since Ballerina/Leap! also takes place in old time Paris and has Felicie spending time in an Opera House beside other young dancers. Like Nora, Dora, Camille Le Haut and Regine Le Haut, who can also be featured as some of the other young dancers at the Opera House beside her.
