Guy

This focuses on the relationships of the character Guy from The Croods.

Big Four[]

Friends[]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Guy and Hiccup's relationship could go either way. On one hand, Guy's ingenuity and Hiccup's brains would bring them closer. They would be constantly working on new things and inventing stuff. On the other hand, their strikingly similar personalities would completely clash. They would often bicker or argue about who's invention is better (or simply have a small rivalry and tease each other on their inventions). Also, his pet sloth, Belt, would make quite good friends with Toothless, due to their comical and dramatic personalities. Guy plays a major role in Dreamdorks alongside Jack and Hiccup.

Jack Frost[]

Guyjack

Jack and Guy would be best friends, almost brothers. They have a lot in common, both being from the past. Also, they are clever and trouble-making. Guy would most likely end up trying his inventions out with Jack (who wouldn't have a problem with it either). This would bring them even closer together. Guy also has a big part in Dreamdorks, with Hiccup and Jack. They also have a pairing called, Guyfrost.

Merida DunBroch[]

Merida and Guy are very much alike. Strong and good-hearted, these two would find each other very interesting. They have trouble fitting in, which is something that they could bond over. Because Merida has wild red hair, a strong physique, and is extremely feisty and rebellious, she may remind Guy of Eep. They have a romantic pairing, called Meriguy.

Rapunzel Corona[]

Guy and Rapunzel would be good friends. They are both nice, caring people (also very smart). As with Hiccup, Belt and Rapunzel's pet chameleon, Pascal, would get along quite nicely. Because Rapunzel produces light with her hair and is (in a way) the embodiment of the sun, Guy would be very fascinated by this and would try to study it, especially since he dislikes the dark.

Toothless[]

Guy would be fascinated with the dragon, especially if he were to discover the tail fin. Toothless would have neutral feelings towards him, but would see a lot of Hiccup in him, possibly resulting in a small bond between the two.

Enemies[]

Pitch Black[]

Since Grug - and by extension the rest of the Croods - are ruled by fear, Pitch would possess great disdain towards Guy. While it is never really stated outright, it is possible that Pitch was around back in mankind's infancy, teaching mankind to fear the dark for their own safety, so it is possible that Pitch held some influence over the Croods. Because Guy helps the Croods move beyond this, this could mark the moment when Pitch was losing his power and would become mankind's adversary.

Mother Gothel[]

Despite there being little interaction between the two, Guy would strongly dislike Gothel for keeping Rapunzel locked away and using her powers to keep herself alive. He would especially dislike her for slandering the mother type and pretending to be family towards Rapunzel. Gothel would have little to no interest in the caveman, although she would be impressed by his intellect, considering the fact that he’s from a Prehistoric era where most of its inhabitants are basically brainless, but other than that she wouldnt care less about him.

Mor'du[]

Considering how large and monstrous Mor’du is, Guy would be terrified of the demon bear and would most likely run away, but he would most likely use his intelligence against him.

Red Death[]

The dragon would intimidate Guy, but Guy would most likely respond to it in the same way he responds to every creature he encounters: by tricking it.

Expanded Universes[]

Friends and Allies[]

Queen Elsa[]

Guy and Elsa would be good friends (if not, more). Elsa would be greatly interested in Guy's "inventions" as would Anna, especially since he is from a prehistoric era. Their ship is Guyelsa or Gelsa.

Princess Anna[]

Anna would also be amazed at Guy's creations. She would try to use Guy's stuff, and in the process, accidentally break it/them. They are both strong-willed and awkward-ish, so they would be highly compatible. Their ship is Guyanna or Ganna.

Hiro Hamada[]

Hiro would be one of Guy's best friends. Guy would most likely be very enthralled by Hiro's technological prowess, sparking a strong friendship. Guy would be the type of friend that would stand by Hiro when he lost his brother.

Mavis Dracula[]

The Once-ler[]

Guy and Oncie would have a relationship similar to that of Guy and Hiccup's. They could butt heads, having disagreements regarding inventions, or using the inventions as the glue that holds them together.

Mary Katherine[]

Nod[]

Wreck-It Ralph[]

Guy would feel uneasy around Ralph. Ralph's size and demeanor would remind Guy of Grug, and the tension between them. But, like with Grug, they would eventually become good friends and overcome the tension.

Vanellope von Schweetz[]

Guy and Vanellope would have great amounts of fun together. Guy would spend large amounts of time "tricking out" Vanellope's cart, and they would practice on the race track.

Enemies[]

Prince Hans of the Southern Isles[]

Guy would automatically become suspicious of Hans, because of his oddly charming personality and sly attitude. Because of his likely friendship with Anna, he would know about him and dislike him.

Mandrake[]

King Candy[]

Guy would hate King Candy. Since Guy would be friends with Vanellope, they would be rivals on the race track. Since Guy would be helping Vanellope, he would not trust or like King Candy.

Yokai[]

Guy wouldn't like Yokai at all, because Guy is an inventor, and he would hate to have his invention stolen. Due to this, Guy would likely join forces with the Big Hero 6 and their allies.

Other[]

Family[]

Unnamed Parents[]

Little is known about Guy’s parents or his relationship with them, since they died when he was young. However, it is known he loved them very much, as much as they loved him, since they encouraged Guy to leave and find ‘Tomorrow’ (a metaphorical place of happiness) before the tar rose and consumed them both, much to Guy’s distress. Guy took their final words to him to heart, and still remembers them fondly, while making it his life mission to find Tomorrow.

Friends[]

Belt[]

Before the Croods came along, Belt was Guy's only companion, so their relationship together is strong. They will both interact, and Guy will even talk to and understand Belt at times. Belt loves to help Guy with things and emphasizing certain moments, like adding a "Dun dun daaa!" to intense moments or if something bad is about to happen.

Grug Crood[]

Grug initially hated Guy, and, like every overprotective father, kept Guy away from his daughter at any cost. In Grug’s story, he considered Guy a weirdo and kept him in a log, as he knew that he and his family needed Guy’s inventions (specifically his fire) to survive, even though he didn’t like them or Guy. He later grew jealous of Guy because of his intellect that charmed his family, and because his rule-strict personality clashed with Guy’s new modern ideas, and it didn’t help that Guy was getting close to Eep and was listened to her more than Grug. Guy was initially terrified of Grug, but was also annoyed at being stuffed into a log all the time. However, later in the film, Guy started to see Grug as less of a threat, but still held some fear of him. Grug’s jealousy of Guy later escalated to the point where Grug pretended to have ideas like Guy in order to win over his family. When the Croods refused to go into the cave, Grug blamed this on Guy and attacked him in a rage, but ended up getting stuck in tar. While they were stuck, Guy explained that no one ever gets out of tar, as he knew from experience. He opened up to Grug and explained how he lost his own family in tar, and Grug began to lose his contempt towards Guy, as he does everything he can to keep his family safe. He later welcomes Guy to the clan. However, in the sequel, Greg became annoyed with Guy’s growing and overly affectionate relationship with Eep, and feared Eep would leave the pack with Guy for good. He was even almost manipulated by Phil Betterman to leave Guy behind to the Bettermans in exchange for keeping Eep with the Croods forever. Guy, after having a falling-out with Eep and feeling betrayed by this, willingly stayed with the Bettermans, much to Grug’s later regret. In the end, the two managed to make up and Grug accepted the two’s decision to leave the pack and start their own (even though they would end up living next door).

Ugga Crood[]

Much like the rest of the Croods, Guy initially saw Ugga as a savage cavewoman, while Ugga viewed him as a threat, until she witnessed his fire and became rather polite towards him. During their adventure, the two gradually became friends. She later became a mother-figure to Guy after thanking him for keeping her family safe in the film.

Eep Crood[]

Guy is Eep's love interest. They met on a cliffside, where Guy showed Eep fire. Eep was immediately interested in the fire and wanted to be friends. Eep was highly attracted to Guy and had an obvious yet obsessive crush on him, treating him in a way sort of like a Yandere would treat his/her own crush by holding him captive, while Guy was pretty much terrified of her savage like personality, but he returned her crush. When Eep tried to go hunting, Guy agreed to help her in order to escape the log, however, he briefly weirded her out due to his social-awkwardness. During his plan to pretend to be a female bird in order to steal the egg from the bird, Guy accidentally entangled with Eep, much to their embarrassment. He responded dreamily that Eep was awesome after she showed off her fighting abilities with the bird. During Guy’s story, he created a tiger character which he based off of Eep, whom he called beautiful. He then explained how the tiger could ride the sun, while also looking at Eep, realizing his feelings for her. While the "end of the world" was underway, Guy went with Eep's family to a higher area. He eventually bonded with the Croods and became Eep's boyfriend, much to the dismay of her father, Grug (although he later grew on him like everyone else).

In the second film, the two have grown close and formed an official relationship, which has become overly affectionate and extremely lovey-dovey (much to Grug’s annoyance and eventual fear). It is also shown that the two have yet to share their first kiss yet, which is constantly interrupted via survival games servers near-death experiences. Eventually, Guy ‘proposed’ to Eep with promises of staying together but away from her family, which both excited and worried Eep. This officially confirmed the true love between the two, but tensions began to rise after meeting the Bettermans. Guy began to adjust to their ways, but in the process, accidentally demeaned Eep and her family in the process, which hurt Eep’s feelings. This in turn caused Eep to view their relationship as too different to handle, especially after Guy insensitively called her a ‘cave girl,’ unintentionally insulting her. Furious, Eep began to over-exaggerate her cave girl abilities, and Guy vented his frustrations over Eep’s dislike of the Betterman’s adjusting lifestyle, a dispute that ended with Eep declaring themselves too different for each other, causing them to break off their relationship and Guy moving in with the Bettermans. Unfortunately, neither of them handled the end of the relationship well, as Guy began to realize his insensitivity towards Eep and realized that Eep was his ‘tomorrow’ (a metaphorical place his parents told him to find before dying). He then claimed that Eep was his first and only true love, revealing his deep feelings for her. Meanwhile, Eep learned that their differences was what made them a good couple, and reformed her relationship with him after saving him from the Spiney Mandrilla, while also sharing her first kiss with him afterwards. The two then reconciled and moved next door to the now united Bettermans and Croods, living happily as they formed their own pack.

Thunk Crood[]

They do not have a lot of interactions but Thunk dislikes guy more than Grug but at the end he liked Guy even in the second film.

Sandy Crood[]

They don’t interact very much but she hated Guy even Belt but they ended up being friends.

Gran[]

The two of those boys don’t interact but Gran is cranky at Guy but they get along.

Phil Betterman[]

Guy was friends with Phil's daughter when they were young, and after Phil saw how much Guy has grown he decides to make him a member of the Betterman family. As well as tricking Guy to fall in love with Dawn even though he already likes Eep.

Hope Betterman[]

Knowing how close her only daughter was with Guy when they were children, Hope was happy with the idea to make Guy a Betterman and to "help" Dawn and Guy become more than friends.

Dawn Betterman[]

Dawn and Guy are childhood friends. They grew up together, but were separated after Guy’s parents were killed and Guy left on his own. Because of this, Dawn was left rather lonely behind the wall due to the lack of people. They were overjoyed to see each other again, especially after they found out they both accessorized with sloths (Belt and Sash, who fell in love with each other). Despite being close, the two hold little to no romantic attraction to each other, since Guy’s heart belonged to Eep and Dawn seemed more interested in making friends. However, unknown to them both, Hope and Phil Betterman (Dawn’s parents), revealed to have prejudice towards cave people, planned to keep Guy with them and steal him away from the Croods, while also dismissing his relationship with Eep and planned to set him up with Dawn instead. Even though the Bettermans succeeded in getting Dawn and Guy to hang out, the two only remained friends for the entirety of the film. They continue to remain close friends, and Dawn seems to be accepting of his and Eep’s relationship.
