Botfighting AU (also known as Big Hero 6 AU by few) is an AU (Alternate Universe) within the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons universe. In the AU, Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost are all portrayed as botfighters in San Fransokyo. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart and other fan-made works. This is considered a sub-scenario to Modern AU, Robot AU and Sci-Fi AU.

About this AU[]

In this AU, members of the fandom are portrayed as active members of the sport of botfighting; a sport where miniature remote controlled robots fight in the ring.

How the characters themselves are portrayed usually differs, from being high schoolers to being students of San Fransokyo Tech and even full-on graduates. Whether or not the bot-fighting they partake in is legal or illegal may vary.

Whether or not this AU takes place in San Fransokyo (or at least in the same world) is not required, but is most common. Even though this AU is sometimes viewed as a Big Hero 6 AU, from how bot-fighting was used as the film's opening scene, the way that the cast characters in the AU can be featured as students at SFIT and the occasions when fans like to edit the fandom's others characters as the main six members of BH6 in their civilian clothing. Just as the Superhero AU has had the fandom's characters cast as the six in their hero gear and armour. Despite this fact, the AU is manly focused on the bot-fighting side of it and doesn't have to be limited to the world of Big Hero 6.

Because of the way that the world of Big Hero 6 was used to serve one of the many Disney worlds in KHIII, fans could consider this AU an alternative with Kingdom Hearts AU. As well as Superhero AU, due to those who prefer to focus on the superhero side rather than the robot fighting and attending SFIT sides of Disney's BH6; or its original Marvel counterpart.

Featured Characters[]

The Big Four[]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

In this AU, Hiccup is seen as the reigning champ, given his technical know-how translating to modern times. Given his timid nature, Hiccup would usually keep his botfighting hobby a secret from his personal life, drawing up a reputation as a result. His bot is mostly based off of Toothless, keeping the Night Fury as the core blueprint of its design.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Hiccup is commonly cast as Hiro Hamada from how Hiccup's blacksmithing skills makes him a skilled inventor and has a friend who can fly thanks to Hiccup.

Jack Frost[]

In this AU, Jack (as his human self) is a botfighter that does it for fun and brings his sister along for support. His bot has been designed after a white rabbit-like design, an obvious reference to one of his guardian friends, Bunnymund.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Jack has been cast as Hiro Hamada and Fred. While being an older brother could have him as Tadashi Hamada.

Merida DunBroch[]

In this AU, Merida possesses a brawler bot, her bot in particular drawing many influences from Scottish culture with bears as a primary influence in its design. There have also been times when Merida's bot is based on a Wisp. Since botfighting has a "questionable legitimacy" due to spectators and other botfighters betting on the fights, Merida keeps her hobby and the bot she uses in it a secret from her mother; as she knows that Elinor would not approve of the sport her daughter secretly takes part in or the people she hangs out with at them.

If Merida were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, she'll be cast as GoGo Tomago from being a tomboy in her own unique way.

Rapunzel Corona[]

In this AU, Rapunzel is a botfighter who's robot has been designed after a chameleon-like design, an obvious reference to her animal friend Pascal. Since her father is shown to be overprotective of his daughter in Tangled: Before Ever After and its follow-up series, Rapunzel keeps her botfighting hobby a secret from him.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Rapunzel is commonly cast as Honey Lemon from how they both have blond hair and green colored eyes. As well as Rapunzel having a pink and yellow color scheme, and enjoys creating works of art with her paintings.

Extra Characters[]

Hiro Hamada[]

Since Hiro is already a student at San Fransokyo Tech and spent time in the botfight fighting ring, he is usually portrayed as himself, as well as a fulltime botfighter and reigning champ with Megabot by his side. As there was a moment and episode in the Big Hero 6 TV series, that brought Hiro back into the botfighting world.

Yama[]

Since Yama is already a botfight and has a bot of his own, he is portrayed as himself. As well as being a fallen champ that wants to get back the kid who defeated him and destroyed his bot, twice (as they had a rematch in the Big Hero 6: The Series episode, "The Bot Fighter").

Toothiana[]

Tooth's bot is mostly based on her fairies or their hummingbird like appearance and features. She is mostly seen having more than one bot at her side and is commonly placed as a human in the AU.

Astrid Hofferson[]

In this AU, Astrid is a botfighter that hopes to go up against the champ and that her bot would someday beat his. Her bot is mostly based off of Stormfly or a blue bird, one of the forms that the Nadder is sometimes given in modern crossovers.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Astrid's tomboy-like nature and the way she doesn't back down from a challenge can easily cast her as GoGo Tomago.

Queen Elsa[]

In this AU, Elsa possesses a bot that has an elegant and a human-like design to it. Elsa mostly takes part in the Botfights as an escape from her life and the focus she uses in the fights allows her to keep her mind off of some things that have been troubling her of late, like trying to live up to her father, being the person that many expect her to be and her worries for Anna.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Elsa is commonly cast between GoGo and Honey Lemon, while Elsa being a big sister has placed her as a genderbend Tadashi Hamada. Sometimes for a laugh and a bit of fun, Elsa has been edited into the clothes and hair styles of Wasabi and Fred, despite having very little or nothing in common with the two. For the Modern AU and crossovers, some fans have simply edited Elsa in Aunt Cass's clothes, as they tend to suit Modern Elsa quite well.

Princess Anna[]

Anna mostly attends the botfights to spend time with Elsa and to cheer her on. Even when she is mostly seen watching the fights rather than taking part in them; she only joins in the when she feels that she wants to give it ago and with bots that wouldn't badly damage hers. Her bot is mostly based off of Olaf.

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Anna can be cast as Honey Lemon for her friendly personality. While her being a younger sibling has has placed her as a genderbend Hiro Hamada.

Varian[]

Since Varian is sometimes viewed as a Hiro-like character (mostly in the Tangled universe of its TV series and the Tangled Hero 6 crossover) and the skills that the young alchemist used to build a reverse-engineered version of the Guardian Automaton, he encountered in the underground tunnel system into an army of them, can easily place him as a botfighter. With a miniature version of one of the automatons or the giant machine that was altered from them as the bot he uses in the underground, illegal botfights. His bot can even be based off of Ruddiger, that can transform into a robot version of the raccoon's beast form; bit like how Hiro's botfighting bot changes its face to switch Megabot's playful mode (yellow face) with its battle mode (red face).

If Varian were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, he would be cast as Hiro Hamada from how he is seen as the Tangled version of him from the two being young inventers who have used their creations to help others, and the way that they wanted to harm the people who had hurt someone close to them.

The Once-ler[]

While the Once-ler is seen as one of the attending botfighters, his Greed-ler side has him betting on the fights rather than taking part in them. The bot that he uses in the fight will most likely be based on the Lorax, one of the animals (like Pipsqueak) living in the Truffula Forest or has it designed after the axe-chopping machines that he and his family used to cut down the Truffula Trees.

Kubo[]

As a botfighter, Kubo's bot is based on Little Hanzo or of the origami of his father, that he uses to tell his stories or are merged together to make the bot based on both of them. Instead of being skilled with pager folding, Kubo specializes in robotics as he makes small robot versions of his origami creations.

Tuffnut Thorston[]

When placed in the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Tuffnut can be cast as Fred from how the two were both voiced by T.J. Miller and the way that their personalities aren't soo different from one another.

Cassandra[]

If Cassandra were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, she would be cast as GoGo Tomago for her short, dark hair and is a tomboy in her own way.

Toothiana[]

If Tooth were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Tooth's bubbly personality and doing what she can to help her friend protect and save others, could possibly have her as Honey Lemon.

Vanellope von Schweetz[]

If Vanellope were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, with the second Wreck-It Ralph film having people view Vanellope as a tomboy, along with her being athletic, sarcastic, spunky and a loyal person, can easily cast her as GoGo Tomago.

E. Aster Bunnymund[]

If Bunny were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Bunny's tough, competitive and sarcastic personality, doing what he can to help those who in need and the fact that rabbits are known to be fast on her feet, could possibly have a male version of him as GoGo Tomago.

Lance Strongbow[]

If Lance were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Big Hero 6, Lance's cheerful, friendly personality, his dislikes of spider and doing what he can to help those who need it, could possibly have him as Fred.
