Corona's Lantern is what King Frederic and Queen Arianna used to help their long lost daughter find her way home.
Appearance[]
The main lantern has Corona's sun crest, while the other lanterns that follower after it come in many different shapes, sizes, colors and decorated in many patterns.
Lore[]
The tradition started when King Frederic and Queen Arianna send a lantern (with the kingdom's crest) into the sky to celebrate the birth of their new born daughter. When an old woman kidnapped the princess, her family got the people of their kingdom to send thousands of lanterns into the night sky of her birthday, so the Lost Princess can find her way home.
Through the years Rapunzel grew watched the lanterns from the tower's main window, without knowing what they truly are or why they only show themselves on the night of her birthday. She did however had a feeling that the "floating Lights" were meant for her. The day before her eighteenth Rapunzel gathered up the courage to asked her "mother" to let her leave the tower and see the lights up-close in person (she had even painted herself watching them in the woods outside the tower), but Gothel said "no" and that "she'll never leave the tower, ever". So she asked the thief that wondered into her tower to take her to them instead.
After eighteen years Frederic and Ariannas' lantern finally reached and brought their daughter home: and the dancing lanterns helped Rapunzel and Eugene understand their feelings for each other, after (and before) they sent their own lanterns into the night coulorful sky with the others. They even had lanterns (that look like theirs) for their wedding in Tangled Forever After. A lantern like the main one was seen in the Tangled: The Series episode, "The Quest for Varian", as Varian used the lantern to send words of help and a small key to Rapunzel and her friends, Rapunzel had saw Varian's lantern in her second nightmare of the black rocks before uncovering the message lantern the following morning. While in the end events of "Secret of the Sun Drop", many lanterns floated above Old Corona as King Fredric allowed Rapunzel to follow her destiny, as the black rocks had created a path for her to follow, and the lanterns would once again serve as her guiding light home.
Role in the Crossover[]
The main lantern serves as the mark of Rapunzel's dreams and motivation for her to leave her tower. Which got some fans to call Rapunzel the Princess of Lanterns.
