Maximum Ride AU (not to be confused with Angel AU) is an AU in which the main characters of the Fandom of Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons are portrayed as mutants (usually bird kids). Because in the original books there is human experimentation, this can be considered a sub-scenario to the Sci-Fi AU and Hybrid AU.
About the AU[]
In the original book (written by James Patterson), Max (Maximum Ride) and her flock, are humans that were imprisoned in a horrifying place named The School. The School is a laboratory in which evil scientists (nicknamed whitecoats) test genetic experiments on human beings. The kids from the flock were created with two percent avian DNA, resulting in them having wings. After a whole life living in cages, a whitecoat named Jeb Batchelder saves the six kids and takes them to a house in the forest. Their adventure begins when Erasers (wolf/human hybrids) kidnap Angel, the youngest of the six. They take her back to the School, and the rest of the first book is centered on bringing her back.
Depending on the author, characters from the book may be replaced with characters from the RotBTD fandom, or have a completely different set of event invented by the author and simply set in the same universe as the original series.

Hiccup is sometimes portrayed as either Iggy or Fang, because of his sarcastic personality and the pairing Mericcup.
Jack Frost[]
Jack is portrayed as Fang, because of Fang's invisible tendencies, or as Iggy, because of his friendship with Jamie. Jamie is often considered as Gazzy, who is Iggy's best friend.
Merida DunBroch[]
Merida is usually portrayed as Max, the oldest person and the leader of the Flock. The two both are brave, and care a lot for their family.
Rapunzel Corona[]
Fans portray Rapunzel as Nudge, because they are both excitable, and talk a lot.

Because there are not many little kids in the fandom, Jamie is commonly portrayed as Gazzy (the Gasman).
Jack Frost's Sister[]
Jack Frost's sister (often named Pippa, Emma, or Jill by fans) might be considered to be Angel.
Toothless[]
Some fans put him in as Total, Angel's mutant talking dog.
