Howl's Moving Castle AU is a popular AU (Alternate Universe) within the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom. In the AU, Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost play roles from Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle. This can be considered an offshoot to Studio Ghibli AU and Anime AU.

Jack is commonly portrayed as Howl Jenkins Pendragon, a young, charming wizard that owns a moving castle. His hair starts off as white and turns brown later on. Fans have also cast him as a male Sophie Hatter for pairings like Frostbite and Jarida.

With Jack as a common choice for the role of Howl (along with the rare occasions when he is placed as Sophie instead), it commonly has Jamie serving as Markl. A little boy that is Howl's young servant and the one who helps the new "cleaning woman" stay out of trouble and wears a disguise to practices his magic whenever people come to one of the castle's "doors".

Since Anna has had her hair turned white and used love to reverse the effects of magic, she is seen as Sophie Hatter. Sometimes when the part of Howl is given to her sister.
Prince Hans[]
When Elsa is seen as Sophie, Hans is portrayed as Howl for the Helsa pairing. While being a prince could have him as Prince Justin, also known as the living scarecrow Turnip Head, when he was under the spell that transformed him and took away his voice, so he couldn't ask people for help (properly) and to stop him from telling others who he truly is, until a kiss broke the spell and made him human again.

When Jack is seen as a male Sophie, Tooth is portrayed in the female role of Howl. As both characters are shown to be covered in feathers.
