Fairies AU is an AU in the fandom where the Big Four are interpreted as fairies. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart, and other fan-made works.

About the AU[]

Spawning from fanart, this AU places the Big Four, and other such characters in the fandom, as fairies.

The most common scenario places the four of them within the same universe as Tinker Bell and her fairy friends from the Disney Fairies franchise, but this is not required. This can be considered a sub-scenario to Fairy Tale AU, Elements AU and Seasons Guardians AU. While the manga adaptations of the Disney Fairies series and the Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue manga of the 2010 film, can even make this AU an alternative with Manga AU; as fairies are sometimes part of many fantasy manga and anime world.

The Big Four[]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Because of his talents with blacksmithing and close association with green and earth colors, Hiccup is usually portrayed as a Tinker-Talent fairy. However, in association with his interactions and compassion towards dragons, Hiccup could also be seen an Animal-talent fairy. Just as his art skills and being more of a sketch artist than a painter can even have him as an Art-Talented fairy.

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Hiccup has been featured as Bobble, Sled, Terence and Lord Milori for pairings like Hiccelsa, Hiccstrid and Hiccanna. As well as him being depicted as Tinker Bell when Jack has been cast as Periwinkle.

Jack Frost[]

Because of his powers over snow and winter, as well as his association with the blue and white colors, Jack is usually portrayed as an Ice-talent or Frost-talent fairy. His friendship with Baby Tooth could even make him a Winter Animal-talent fairy.

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Jack has commonly been portrayed as Lord Milori while Rapunzel, Anna or Elsa is placed Queen Clarion. There have also been occasions when he has been depicted as Periwinkle, Sled or Terence.

Merida DunBroch[]

Because she is closely associated with animals (mainly horses and bears) and the notable color of red in her hair, Merida is usually portrayed as an Animal-talent fairy. Her times riding Angus in the woods to shoot her arrows also makes her a Fast Flying-talent or Scout-talent fairy.

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Merida's bold and brave personality and has been shown to be selfish at times, when it comes to things she doesn't like, could have her as Vidia. There have also been times when Merida has been cast as Fawn.

Rapunzel Corona[]

For her close association with flowers (especially her name) and the color pink, Rapunzel is usually portrayed as a Garden-talent fairy. In association with her magic glowing hair and healing power she also can be seen as a Light-Talent fairy. Her friendship with Pascal and Maximus also makes her a Animal-talent fairy, while her healing powers through her hair makes her a Healing-talent fairy or a Nursing-talent fairy and her art skills also makes her a Painting-Talent or a Art-Talent fairy.

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Rapunzel has been portrayed as Queen Clarion while Jack is placed as Lord Milori. There have also been times when Rapunzel has been cast as Iridessa, Rosetta or Tinker Bell.

Queen Elsa[]

Because of her powers over snow and winter, as well as her association with the blue and white colors, Elsa is usually portrayed as an Ice-talent fairy. Due to the polarizing colors and personalities between her and her sister, she is often seen as the "Periwinkle" to Anna as "Tinker Bell".

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Elsa has commonly been portrayed as Queen Clarion while Jack or Hiccup serves as Lord Milori. Elsa's second most common role in the character casting side of the DF AU is of Periwinkle, as Elsa and Anna do have a similar energy to Peri and Tink when the sisters are together. There have also been times when Elsa has been cast as Silvermist and Tinker Bell.

Princess Anna[]

While the exact type of fairy Anna would be is heavily debated, she is most commonly seen as a Tinker-talent fairy for her eccentric personality, resourcefulness and her notable green ball-gown. Due to the polarizing colors and personalities between her and her sister, she is often seen as the "Tinker Bell" to Elsa as "Periwinkle".

When adopting the roles of characters from the Disney Fairies franchise, Anna is commonly portrayed as Tinker Bell whenever Elsa is placed as Periwinkle beside her, from how Anna and Elsa have a similar energy to Tink and Peri. There have also been times when she has been cast as Queen Clarion, while Jack serves as Lord Milori. Along with there being occasions when Anna has been cast as Rosetta and Fawn.

The Guardians[]

The guardians are depicted as the Ministers (of the seasons) or Overseers of Pixie Hollow's fairies, much like Fairy Mary with the Tinkers and Fairy Gary with the Dusters. Bunny would be the Minister of Spring or the Overseer of Animal-Talent or Scout-Talent Fairies. Sandy's Dreamsand makes him the overseer of the Dust-Talent Fairies, North the Minister of Winter or Lord of the Winter woods, much like Lord Milori, although his toy making skills also makes him a the Overseer of the Tinker-Talent fairies. While Toothiana (as a queen of her own fairies) is made the Queen of Pixie Hollow or as Queen Clarion's sister or oldest friend; she can even be made the overseer of Fast-Flying fairies.

Leafmen[]

Ronin and the Leafmen are like an army of wingless Scout-Talent Fairies that watch over Moonhaven, much like how Nyx and her team watch over Pixie Hollow. While Tara's powers makes her a Garden-Talent fairy, their overseer, a friend of Queen Clarion or a fairy queen of her own Pixie Hollow.

The Once-ler[]

Because of his time with the animals, singing, dancing and feeding them, the Once-ler is seen as a Animal-Talent Fairy. While flipping and preparing flapjacks makes him a Baking-Talent Fairy, being able to play the guitar, a Music-Talent fairy and making his first Theed with his own hands and coming with plans for his factory, makes him a Sewing-Talent Fairy. While with Old Once-ler caring for the Truffula sprouts makes him a Garden-Talent Fairy. Telling his story to Ted also makes him a Storytelling-Talent Fairy, as he or another Storytelling fairy tells his story in Fairy Tale Theater.

Pixie Hollow Fairies[]

Since Tinker Bell, her friends and the rest of Pixie Hollow's small winged people are already fairies from the world of Disney Fairies, they are portrayed as their selves. However, some fans like to switch some of their talents, much like how Zarina's Alchemized Pixie Dust switched Tink and her friends talents in The Pirate Fairy.

Moana Waialiki[]

Moana's love for the ocean can easily make her a Water-Talent fairy. Her friendship with Pua and Heihei, and helping Maui with his animal transformations can also have her as an Animal-talent, while the wind that her boat's sail catches makes her a Fast-Flying fairy.
