RWBY AU is a recently made AU (Alternate Universe), where the Big Four (Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost) are either replacing team RWBY or added to the current RWBY universe; however, it can also be possible that it is from an entirely different yet the same universe where the RWBY cast simply do not exist at all. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart, and other fan-made works. This can be considered an offshoot of Anime AU.
About the AU[]
On the planet of Remnant, in the Kingdom of Vale (or another Kingdom), Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost are students who are newly enrolled in the prestigious combat school, Beacon Academy, in order to fight the Grimm, mysterious, monstrous and other-worldly creatures as well as other entities - such as Roman Torchwick and Cinder Fall or the rebellious Faunus organization, the White Fang.
With many of RWBY's main and notable characters being the alludes of classic fairy tale characters (like Red Ridding Hood, Snow White, Belle/Beast and Goldilocks), as well as other known fictional characters and mythical/legendry figures, fans can consider this AU as an alternative to Fairy Tale AU. Just as Remnant's human-animal hybrid people known as Faunus can place it beside Hybrid AU. It could also be placed as an alternative with the DC AU, to reference the comics and two part film of the anime's official (non-canon) crossover with the Justice League from the DC universe; along with DC Comics being the company to publish a comic issue series on RWBY.
Different Names of the Team[]
- SCLT - pronounced as 'scarlet'. In Kyra Tuiama's fic, it is based on their names:
- Jackson Overland Sapphire Frost (took the S)
- Hunter Cal Poly Horrendous Haddock the Third (took the C)
- Rapunzel Lavender (took the L)
- Merida Tangelo (took the T)
- WBRY - named after the color of their hair. (White, Brown, Red, Yellow)
- JHMR - named after their first names (Jack, Hiccup, Merida, Rapunzel)
- JHRM - pronounced as 'germ'. Like JHMR, it is based after their first names.
- SAWS - named after the seasons they're affiliated and very similar to/with (Rapunzel-Spring; Hiccup-Autumn; Jack-Winter; Merida-Summer)
- RWBY - probably not as popular, considering that it clashes with the original show, but this can be used as an alternative to WBRY.
- MJHR: Pronounced as Merger, it applies to their first names. It can be used a reference to them learning to work together.
- MHRJ: Pronounced as Mirage.

The Big Four[]
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]
Similar to Jaune Arc (as both are smart and good in leadership but bad in physical combat and such), but can also serve as the leader of the team sometimes. His leadership and inventing skills, can also be portray Hiccup as Ruby Rose. Hiccup being the child of a chief and black being one of his main color schemes has led to him being placed as the alternative Blake Belladonna, since the alternative roles of Ruby, Wiess and Yang are more commonly given to Rapunzel, Jack and Merida, it leaves Hiccup to serve as the Blake of the group.
Jack Frost[]
Jack is sometimes portrayed as the alternative Ruby Rose of the fandom, but can also serve as the leader of the team sometimes. He can also possibly be the alternative Weiss Schnee of the fandom - despite the differences of their personalities, their affiliation with the winter season or snow element is quite the same.
Merida DunBroch[]
Similar to Pyrrha Nikos (the two are red-heads, beautiful and are very excellent in combat), but can also serve as the leader of the team sometimes. Merida can also be portrayed as the Yang Xiao Long of the group, as both are aggressive and willing to fight for what's right.
Rapunzel Corona[]
Rapunzel is portrayed as the alternative Yang Xiao-Long (possibly due to blonde hair and/or similar personality), but can also serve as the leader of the team sometimes. She can also be the alternative Ruby Rose (if not Jack Frost) of the fandom, due to their similar hyper, friendly, and perky attitude.
Extra Characters[]
Pitch Black[]
Pitch is portrayed as the alternate Salem, due to them having similar roles and abilities as the King of Nightmares and Queen of Grimm respectively.
The Guardians[]
The Guardians are portrayed as adult hunters who teach at the academy where the four attend, usually Beacon.
Queen Elsa[]
Similar to Weiss Schnee, as they are both associated with winter and ice, come from privileged backgrounds, and have reserved, regal personalities. Both of them have also struggled with loneliness and been mistreated by family in the past. She could also be Weiss' sister Winter Schnee instead.
Princess Anna[]
Anna could be cast Nora Valkyrie, because they both have bubbly and outgoing personalities. They also have similar hair and eye colours and both are based on Scandinavian culture. She could also be Ruby Rose, because they have similar personalities and they both have older sisters.
Mor'du[]
Due to there being a Bear Grim in the series, Mor'du could easily be portrayed as one of them.
Red Death[]
Red Death could easily be seen as a dragon-like Grim.
The Screaming Death[]
The Screaming Death could easily be seen as a dragon Grim.
Hector[]
Hector could be cast as Tyrian Callows, since both are dangerous and sadistic.
Mother Gothel[]
Gothel could be cast as a younger version of Cinder Fall, since both of them are cold, intelligent, arrogant, murderous, cunning, short tempered and will gloat and make fun of others.
Cassandra[]
Cassandra could be cast Emerald Sustrai, as Emerald is loyal to Cinder and sees her as a mother figure while Cassandra is Gothel's biological daughter. Along with the fact that both of them are tough, temperamental and quick-witted.
Dr. Calico[]
Despite their different appearances, Calico could be cast as Arthur Watts, since both are scientists, arrogant and condescending.
Varian[]
Varian could be portrayed Oscar Pine, due to their short statures. Along with the fact that both of them are helpful, kind-hearted, insecure and courageous.
The Man in the Moon[]
Despite Manny never making a physical appearance, in the Rise of the Guardians film, the Man in the Moon could be cast as Ozpin, similar to Ozpin protecting the world from Salem the same can be said for MiM protecting the world from Pitch.
Syndrome[]
Syndrome could be cast as Roman Torchwick, despite them having different abilities from each other, they are both ruthless, charming, comedic, resourceful, short-tempered, calm a have connection to machines and weapons.
Chris[]
Despite them having different personalities from each other, Chris could be cast as Mercury, as they both do have the abilities of agility, speed and strength.
Flynn Rider[]
Flynn could be cast as Sun Wukong, since both of them are former thieves, loyal, kind, have risk their lives and care for their friends.
Goldilocks[]
Because both Goldi and Yang are the allude to the original Goldilocks, it has inspired a few fans to portray Puss in Boots Goldilocks as Yang Xiao-Long. Since Yang's half sister is the allude of Red Ridding Hood and there have been PiB fans who like to feature Goldi with an PiB version of the red hooded fairy tale character; even though the Shrek franchise had already showcased their own vision of Ridding Hood.
