Camp Half-Blood AU

Camp Half-Blood AU (also known as Percy Jackson AU and Heroes of Olympus AU) is a relatively unknown but still well-loved AU (Alternate Universe) within the world of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In the AU, Hiccup, Merida, Rapunzel and Jack Frost are all demigods who are training at Camp Half-Blood. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart, and other fan-made works. This can be considered a sub-scenario for Modern AU.

About the AU

For those who don't know the Percy Jackson series, the idea of Camp Half-Blood is a summer camp where demigods (half human and half god) can be sheltered from monsters while training for survival. They are sorted into cabins by who their parent is. They could even be placed as the demigod children of the God's Roman selves and attend Camp Half-Blood's Roman counterpart, Camp Jupiter.

Featured Characters

Often in this AU, the Big Four are often placed into a lineage of a certain god or goddess. However, some fans place the Big Four as roles of the characters, such as Merida being Rachel. Below are the lineages the Big Four are commonly placed in:

The Big Four

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

Hiccup is widely accepted as a son of Hephaestus (God of Fire and the Forge) based on his traits in his feature film. Much like his experiences on Berk, this type of family line can cause some confusion based on his stature - he would be quite small for a demigod of blacksmiths. However, his creativity and ability to invent many things fits well with this lineage, although it may cause some to question if he truly belongs as a son of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, Culture and Warfare).

In other cases, Hiccup is portrayed as Leo Valdez, one of the Seven Demigods of the Prophecy, for their abilities with the smithy, and because the both ride dragons (Hiccup rides Toothless and Leo rides Festus, the robotic dragon made by the cabin of Hephaestus). He can also be cast as Percy Jackson, as both Percy and Hiccup were outsiders and have a sword that can "transform" into a blade for battles and become "pocketsize" for travels.

Jack Frost

Jack is often portrayed as a son of Hermes (God of Roads and Merchants) based on his personality. This is mainly due to his trickster, fun-loving nature and ability to ride the wind.

However, Jack also has been accepted as the son of Boreas (Minor God of the North Wind and Winter) for a series of reasons that go beyond his personality. Firstly, because he is the son of a minor god, he would not have his own cabin, unless the story was based after Percy Jackson demands that the children of minor Demigods also have Cabins. Additionally, it would make sense that he would gain his winter powers from the God of the North Wind that brings winter. This type of lineage would bring forth a lot of plot development and character development for Jack. For the same reasons, Jack is sometimes portrayed as a son of Khione (Goddes of Snow).

When slotted into characters from the series, Jack would usually play Percy Jackson or Luke Castellan.

Merida DunBroch

Merida is one of the more disputed characters in terms of her lineage. One of her more common portrayals is the daughter of Zeus (God of Sky and Thunder) based on her personality. Her traits as being tough and headstrong, as well as containing the spirit of a leader, cause many to see her as a daughter of the father of the gods. Angus can even be portrayed as the Pegasus that she commonly rides and is close with at Camp Half-Blood.

Another commonly shown lineage is the daughter of Ares (God of War) due to her personality and how it compares to the god. Her short, violent temper and desire to fend for herself, as well as her weaponry skills, would fit with this lineage.

Finally, some even have placed her as a daughter of Apollo (God of Archery) based on her skills with the bow, her bow can be given to her by Apollo with a special ability that he blest it with, so it could assist her on quests and protect her from monsters, without the use of a quiver to carry her arrows. In comparison, others have included her as a Hunter of Artemis due to her skill at archery and her desire to stay single and independent from others.

Some also believe that she is daughter of Ares (God of war) and joins the hunters of Artemis (goddess of archery and maidenhood) as Merida is a professional archer and she has no interest in boys.

Merida is also portrayed as the Oracle of Delphi because she is somehow like Rachel Elizabeth Dare, through personality and appearance.

Rapunzel Corona

Rapunzel is commonly portrayed a daughter of Apollo (God of Music, Healing, and Prophecy) for many reasons that include her personality, passions, and powers. The first idea for this is because of her connection to the sun as well as her healing powers that she holds with her hair. Finally, because she also breaks into spontaneous musical numbers, this would add an additional connection between herself and her father.

She also could be considered a daughter of Iris (Goddess of the Rainbow) because of her ability to control light and her artistic abilities. Maximus can even be portrayed as the Pegasus that she commonly rides and is close with at Camp Half-Blood.

When slotted into characters from the series, Rapunzel would usually play Annabeth Chase or Piper McLean.

Extra Characters

Pitch Black

Being the spirit of fear, Pitch fits in nicely with his counterpart in Greek mythology -- Phobos (God of Fear). His Nightmares can be either eidolons or storm spirits (venti).

Maui

Since Maui is alright a demigod of the wind and sea, he would be place as either the Greek demigod child of Notus (God of the South Wind) or of Poseidon (God of the Seas). His Magical Fishhook can serve as a gift that was given to him by his Greek God parent. While stealing Te Fiti's heart could have him as a son of Hermes (God of Roads and Thieves). Maui would most likely be featured as one of Camp Half-Blood's counselors rather than being a camper, due to him being an adult demigod.

Flynn Rider

Because of his thieving past and being fast on his feet, Flynn is seen as a son of Hermes (God of Roads, Thieves and Merchants), as many of Hermes's children have inherited his thieving trait, along with his agility. The Stabbington Brothers, Lance Strongbow, Angry and Red can also be children of Hermes, as they are all thieves that are from the world of Tangled. When Luke Castellan was rounding up demigods to serve the Titan God, Kronos, the Stabbingtons (and other villain Tangled thieves) would have joined Luke, while Eugene and reformed Tangled thieves remained with the other campers and sided with Percy Jackson.

While caring about his appearance, as he doesn't like how his nose is brought out in the wanted posters of him and had "asked" the Pub Thugs to not hit his face, and had changed his ways because of love, he could also be a son of Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty).

Mavis Dracula

Since vampires are known as the "undead", Mavis can be placed as a daughter of Hades (God of the Dead). While vampires being known as "romantic monsters" - from the way that they are brought out or presented in stories like Dracula and the Twilight saga - can even make her a daughter of Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty), with her dark clothing making her a rebel child with her own kind of style and beauty. The camp for vampires, Camp Winnepacaca can even serve as a base/template for Camp Half-Blood or its Roman counterpart Camp Jupiter, as both camps help its campers master their abilities and learn many skills, along with its location keeping the sunlight of day away from the camp, just as Camp Half-Blood's magic barrier keeps hungry monsters and the rain out.

She can also be placed as a Empousa, which are Greek monsters that feed on male blood and are the "modern day" vampires in Rick Riordan's Greek book series.

Hiro Hamada

Hiro's intelligence and battle strategy at the Botfights and against Yokai, can make him a son of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, Culture and Warfare). His skills in robotics and building armor and gear for himself and his friends can also make him a child of Hephaestus (God of the Forge). He and Tadashi can either share the same god and mortal parent (like the Di Angelos) or have the same god parent and a different mortal parent; making them brothers through their god parent and cabin mates.

When slotted into characters from the series, Hiro would usually play Nico Di Angelo as they both have an older sibling that died and held anger to wards the person that they held responsible. Along with the role of Leo Valdez, one of the Seven Demigods of the Prophecy, for their abilities with "crafting", and because the both of them rode and formed a bond with a robot (Hiro with Baymax and Leo with Festus, the robotic dragon made by the cabin of Hephaestus).

Tadashi Hamada

Tadashi's intelligence, that got him in San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, can make him a son of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, Culture and Warfare), while his skills in robotics could have him a child of Hephaestus (God of the Forge). He is sometimes given the rare fire ability that Hephaestus passes onto his demigod children; due to Elements AU and Seasons Guardians AU. Tadashi and Hiro can either share the same god and mortal parent (like the Di Angelos) or have the same god parent and a different mortal parent; making them brothers through their god parent and cabin mates.

The Guardians

Since the Guardians are mysterious, magical beings they can easily be portrayed as some of the Gods and Spirits from the Greek and even Roman myths and legends. As they led their strength and wisdom to young Demigods that seek their help on their quests. As well as being portrayed as adult demigods or counselors at Camp Half-Blood or Camp Jupiter.

North's icy background, living in the north and long white beard is the reason why fans see him as Boreas (Minor God of the North Wind), and possibly Jack's father when he is placed as a child of the Minor God of the North Wind; as the two share father and son like bond. While other fans think that he should be placed as one of Boreas's demigod children, that had managed to reach adulthood.

Queen Elsa

Due to Elsa's ice powers, she could be a daughter of Khione (Goddess of Snow). Fans have also placed her as a daughter of Boreas (Minor God of the North Wind), as their both wielders of ice and with how Elsa was able to make the ice storm raging around Arendelle stop, when Hans told her that Anna was "dead"; as if the ice and snow in the storm reacted to her emotions. The words in the song "Let it Go", also mention the wind and Elsa feeling that she is apart of it when she began to embrace her ice magic and having control over it, for the first time in years. Since Khione and Boreas are minor gods, she would not have her own cabin, unless the story was based after Percy Jackson demands that the children of minor Demigods also have Cabins.

Before of Elsa's magic and Anna not having any of her own, the sisters will most likely be sisters of the same mortal parent and a different God parent, when they are both featured as half-bloods of a different god parent from each other or when is Anna the daughter of Elsa's step mortal parent.

Princess Anna

Anna's interest and ideas about love (before she met Hans and Kristoff) can have her as a daughter of Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty).

Since Anna has a sister that has ice magic and none of her own, the sisters will most likely be sisters of the same mortal parent and a different God parent, when they are both featured as half-bloods of a different god parent from each other or when Anna is Anna the daughter of Elsa's step mortal parent.

Wingmaidens

Since the protectors of young Razorwhip dragons are a tribe of women that keep men off their island, so not to anger the Razorwhip mothers, and were given their task by a goddess, can easily make them Hunters of Artemis. With their chief, Atali as Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt and Maidenhood); or as one of her best hunters. The tribe of women can also be featured as the other female only group, the Amazons. Which could also have Atali as Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano, Hylla Ramírez-Arellano or any of the other known Amazon leaders that are a friend to Half-Bloods; as the Wingmaideen chief is one of the Dragon Rider's allies.

Miguel Rivera

Due to Miguel's love of music and learning how to play a guitar by watching over guitarists, he can easily be placed as a son of Apollo (God of Music); as his "mortal" family's band on music would make him feel that Camp Half-Blood is the one place that he can play (without hiding or keeping his love for music a secret) and can be himself. While traveling to the Land of the Dead and meeting his deceased family members (like Imelda and Héctor), could also make him a son of Hades (God of the Dead). Which could have Dante as a Hellhound (or any other Greek mythology dog) that his Greek God parent sent to keep Miguel safe, from any monsters that would wish him harm.

Astrid Hofferson

Astrid would most likely be placed as either a daughter of Ares (God of War) or Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and Warfare). As she is a skilled fighter with her weapon of choice (a specially made and "super"-powered axe can be given to her by Ares, should he be placed as her Greek God parent) and has been training to fight since she was little.

When slotted into characters from the series, Astrid would most likely be cast as Annabeth Chase or Clarisse La Rue.

Xibalba

With Xibalba being a death god and is the ruler of a underworld-like realm, he can be placed as Hades (God of the Dead). Which could have Joaquin as one of his demigod children, as Xibalba had chosen him to be his champion for his wager with La Muerte at a young age, as well as giving young Joaquin a magical item to "assist" him.

Moana Waialiki

Due to Moana's friendship and connection with the ocean, she can easily be placed as a daughter of Poseidon (God of the Seas). Because of the oath that Poseidon had made with his brothers to not have any more children with mortals, Moana can either be born before World War II, as the oath was made at the end of the war or after Percy had for filled the great prophecy. Moana could even be placed as a daughter of Poseidon's Roman self, Neptune and attends Camp Jupiter (the camp for Roman demigods) instead of Camp Half-Blood. While the wind that the sail of her sailboat catches and being born on an island in the South Pacific ocean, could have her as a child of Notus (God of the South Wind). Since Notus is minor a god, he would not have his own cabin, unless the story was based after Percy Jackson demands that the children of minor Demigods also have Cabins.

Kubo

Since Kubo is a child of a (former) goddess and a mortal man, has inherited magic from his god parent and facing dangers from her world and family, he can easily be placed as a young demigod, that is a Camp Half-Blood or Camp Jupiter camper and is a child of a Greek or Roman god. His music skills with his shamisen can have him as a son of Apollo (Greek God of Music, Healing, and Prophecy). While being the grandson of the Moon King could have him as child of Artemis (Goddess of the Moon), which would make him a forbidden child of the goddess, as Artemis is a maiden goddess, is also known as the Goddess of Maidenhood and has to set an examinable to her huntresses, who have swore off men and their company to join her.

Norman Babcock

Norman's ability to see and speak with the dead, can have him as a son of Hades (God of the Dead). With his ancestor, Agatha Prenderghast, as a past child of Hades that used one of her father's powers to curse the seven that "punished her" out of fear before her death, which could have her and Norman distant half siblings; of the same god parent and coming from the same mortal family tree. Making it another reason and connection that allows Norman to free Agatha from her hatred and long held pain.

Dragons

Since dragons are part of the world of Percy Jackson, they can easily serve and be portrayed as some of the known Greek and Roman, foe and ally dragons from the Percy Jackson series. Dragons like the Red Death and Drago's Bewilderbeast can be monster dragons that hunt down or keep half-bloods away from what their guarding, while dragons that are friendly towards young demigods can be like Peleus, the dragon that guards the Golden Fleece on Thalia's tree and gets along with the young Camp Half-Blood campers.

Dash Parr

Because of Dash's superspeed, he can be featured as a son of Hermes (God of Roads, Thieves and Merchants), as many of his children have inherited his agility and nose for trouble.

Mary Katherine

Having a professor for a father, is smart and is willing to take part in a fight, could have M.K. as a daughter of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, Culture and Warfare). While her time in Moonhaven gives her a connection to nature, it can make her a child of Demeter (Goddess of Harvest and Agriculture). As she is a earth and plant related god/goddess that has children with mortal.

When slotted into characters from the series, M.K. would most likely be cast as Annabeth Chase, as they both had trouble connecting with their work obsessing fathers until battle related events brought them closer together.

Kristoff Bjorgman

Because of his lute playing skills, fans view Kristoff as a son of Apollo (God of Music).

Heather

Heather's charm, that she had used to get dragon training knowledge from the male riders, and her beauty can have her as a daughter of Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty). While her crafting skills, that she (possibly) used to make her axe and Race to the Edge clothing, could have her as a child of Hephaestus (God of the Forge). Since Heather is a character from the DreamWorks Dragon Television series, fans sometimes have her as a Camp Jupiter camper and a child of the god's Roman selves, like Venus (Aphrodite) and Vulcan (Hephaestus).

Heather and Dagur's year apart could be due to one sibling attending Camp Half-Blood, while the other sibling resides in Camp Jupiter. Like the Grace siblings, Thalia (Daughter of Zeus) and Jason (son of Jupiter).

Cassandra

Cassandra's fighting skills and wanting to be a member of Corona's royal guards, can have her as either a daughter of Ares (God of War) or Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and Warfare). Her archery skills could also have her as a child of Apollo (God of Archery), while her view on men, like Eugene, Lance and the Pub Thugs, makes her a Hunter of Artemis. Since Cassandra is a character from the Tangled Television series, fans sometimes have her as a Camp Jupiter camper and a child of the god's Roman selves, like Mars (Ares), or can be the daughter of Mars's twin sister Bellona (Goddess of War), Minerva (Athena) and Roman Apollo/Phoebus.

Lewis Robinson

Lewis's young ingenious mind could have him as a son of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom), while the skills that he used to build most of his inventions, like the Memory Scanner, could have him a child of Hephaestus (God of the Forge). His mortal parent not being unable to care of him and having no idea where the camp is, he was placed in the care of Sixth Street Orphanage; until a satyr is able to find Lewis and brings him to the safety of Camp Half-Blood.
