Callahiro

Callahiro is the name of the pairing between Hiro Hamada and Professor Callaghan from Big Hero 6. Though not a widely popular pairing, it does have several fans.

Relationship Overview[]

Initially, Hiro looked up to Callagahan. When he first meets the man he seems starstruck, and he clearly knows and admires his contributions to the world of robotics. Hiro respects the professor, and does his best to impress him at the showcase in order to get into SFIT. Callaghan seems to admire Hiro's skills as well, and appears happy to accept him into his school, claiming that he looked forward to seeing Hiro in class.

Unfortunately, however, their relationship turns sour very quickly. Callaghan fakes his death in a fire at the showcase, killing Hiro's brother in the process. When Hiro finds out that Callaghan let Tadashi die, he immediately starts to hate him and even orders Baymax to kill him in his thirst for revenge.

Eventually, Hiro calms down and learn the reason for Callaghan's actions. After this, he starts to understand the man a little, but is also determined to stop him from causing chaos due to his grief. Even after Callaghan attempts to kill Hiro and his friends several times during their fights, Hiro still decides to risk his life in order to save Callaghan's daughter.

Following the events of the movie, Callaghan is taken to prison. Fans like to theorize about what might have happened between him and Hiro after the movie. Some say that Hiro still resents the man, other say that they may have reconciled--Callaghan grows to deeply regrets his actions, and may end up teaming up with Hiro in order to atone for them. In these cases, their relationship is usually portrayed as friendship, with perhaps a father/son type of dynamic. Many fans like to say that he would combine his robotics skills with Hiro's, for good this time instead of evil.

Though a romantic interpretation between the two may exist within the fandom, most fans like to keep their relationship platonic.
